Sample poem:

Thirsty

I sit in the dark, brave.

My knees hug my chest

for comfort, not from fear.

It isn't truly dark, anywise.

The inky black is punctuated

by white-hot stars & black-dot

bats that appear to fly

across the cresecent moon.

A malamute howls, primal.

Free, I have tunneled out

of my self-imposed prison

of dogma, thirsty for fresh

wine from a new source.

I feel the earth tremble

beneath me, as water

surges toward me, like

blood flowing to the heart.

I bide my time, patient,

waiting to discover the next

oasis.
